OUR SERVICES

Complete Home Safety Modifications

Every Modification Your Loved One Needs, All Under One Roof

Bathroom Safety Modifications

The bathroom is where most senior falls happen. We assess, plan, and install every modification needed to make it the safest room in the house  not the most dangerous.

Mobility & Accessibility Solutions

When moving through the home becomes a risk, we remove the barriers. From staircase to entryway, we install everything your loved one needs to move freely and safely  without family stress.

Smart Home & Security Upgrades

For families who can’t always be there, these upgrades provide real-time visibility and hands-free convenience — so your loved one stays safe, independent, and connected even when you’re not in the room.

Kitchen & Living Space Modifications

Independence starts in the spaces people use most. We modify kitchens and living areas so your loved one can cook, move, and live without asking for help or risking a fall.

240-Point Home Safety Assessment

Every engagement starts here. Before a single modification is made, we conduct a comprehensive room-by-room evaluation of your loved one’s home, identifying every fall risk, accessibility gap, and safety blind spot — then hand you a clear, prioritized plan with full cost transparency.

Why Joe Built This

About six years ago, Joe’s father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. What followed wasn’t just the grief of watching a parent’s capabilities slowly change, it was the relentless weight of managing everything at once.

Doctor appointments. Medications. Day-to-day routines. And on top of all of it, trying to figure out which contractors to call, who was qualified, and how to coordinate home safety modifications without dropping every other ball in the air.

There was no single person to call. No one who could assess the home, build a plan, and manage the work start to finish. Just a family left to figure it out alone during one of the hardest seasons of their lives.

That’s exactly what Senior Home Safety ILM exists to prevent.

We work alongside your loved one’s healthcare team; doctors, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and home health agencies — so that when home modifications are needed, one phone call handles everything. You focus on your family. We handle the rest.

The NC Coast's Only Certified Single Point of Contact for Senior Home Safety

Senior Home Safety ILM was built around a single frustration families kept running into: needing to hire, coordinate, and chase down multiple contractors just to make a loved one’s home safe.

We eliminated that entirely.

As the NC coast’s only dual-certified specialist  holding both the Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation and the Senior Home Safety Specialist certification, we handle the full journey, from the initial 240-point assessment to the final installation walkthrough. One specialist manages your plan, your contractors, and your timeline. You get one invoice and zero phone tag.

If your loved one is aging in place, recovering from an injury, or living with limited mobility, we make sure their home works for them, not against them.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a 240-point home safety assessment?

It’s a comprehensive, room-by-room evaluation of your loved one’s home to identify every fall risk, accessibility barrier, and safety gap. We assess lighting, flooring, bathroom fixtures, entry points, and more – then deliver a prioritized plan with clear recommendations and costs.

Not at all. That’s exactly what we’re here to prevent. We identify, vet, schedule, and manage every certified contractor needed for your modifications. You don’t make a single call.

Costs vary depending on the modifications needed. After your free 240-point assessment, we provide a full cost breakdown with no surprises. There’s no obligation to proceed until you’re completely comfortable.

We’re based in Wilmington and primarily serve the NC coast. Contact us to confirm service availability in your specific area.

Timelines depend on the scope of work. Simple installations like grab bars and door handles can be completed in a day. Larger projects like walk-in shower conversions are typically completed within 1–2 weeks. We’ll give you a clear timeline before any work begins.
